This presentation will discuss the following significant Regional Water Board activities and issues in its groundwater programs. There will be time for questions and discussion.

  • Regional Water Board News (Alec) – New Toxics Cleanup Division Chief, Board member updates, Board trends (e.g., Basin Plan climate change resiliency), UST Program news, Landfill Program news.
  • Guidance Update (Ross) – Update of the 2014 TCE Vapor Intrusion Framework to broaden its applicability to all VOCs, discuss remediation (e.g., feasibility studies, setting cleanup levels), and align mitigation approaches with the region’s July 2019 Fact Sheet: Development on Properties with a Vapor Intrusion Threat. Development of import fill guidance for cleanup sites. Future plans for revising/developing cleanup-related guidance.
  • PFAS in California’s Groundwater, a Regional Perspective (Erica) – Background regarding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), update on the State Water Resource Control Board’s action plan and where the Region Water Board is in the implementation process, discussion of preliminary results, and mention of PFAS efforts by the region’s three surface water divisions.
